Godai Judo is a nonprofit judo club serving West Michigan from the Kroc Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Founded in 2010 by Sensei Jim Murray, the club was established to mentor young people and help them become strong-minded individuals. Its approach is guided by the principles “Do your best” and “Remain teachable,” alongside judo’s emphasis on maximum efficiency, minimum effort, and mutual welfare and benefit.
The club offers judo classes for children and adults on Mondays and Wednesdays. Children train from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by adult classes from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.; drop-ins are welcome. Judo is a martial art derived from jiu-jitsu and founded by Jigoro Kano in 1882. Godai Judo also welcomes donations to help keep classes and training gear affordable and accessible to as many students as possible. Classes take place at the Kroc Center, 2500 S. Division Avenue, Grand Rapids.
