About Goethe-Gesellschaft Kiel
The Goethe-Gesellschaft Kiel e. V. is a nonprofit local branch of the Goethe Society in Weimar, founded in Kiel in 1947.
It promotes understanding of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s life and work, shares current developments in Goethe research, and explores literature, art, and the humanities across historical and contemporary contexts. Its program includes lectures, readings, discussion groups, and other cultural events, with activities for both members and the wider public. Recent offerings have covered writers such as Georg Büchner and Siegfried Lenz, while reading circles and lectures invite participants to engage closely with Goethe’s works.
