Golden Equine Functional Therapy

Golden Equine Functional Therapy provides equine bodywork designed to support horses’ comfort, mobility, and overall well-being. Founded by Carolyn Fugit, an experienced horse enthusiast and certified equine bodywork practitioner, the business serves Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina from its base in Arden, North Carolina. Carolyn’s background includes national-level competition with American Saddlebreds, Hackney ponies, carriage driving, and Western dressage. Her work was inspired by seeking comfort for her own horse, and she holds certifications in Equine Sports Massage and Equine Myo-Manipulative Functional Therapy, with membership in the International Association of Animal Massage and Bodywork.

Sessions begin with questions and physical observations to help identify areas of dysfunction and shape an individualized treatment approach. Depending on the horse’s needs, Carolyn may use stress point therapy, Swedish massage, Shiatsu, or Gua Sha. Owners are included throughout the session and receive suggested follow-up exercises, stretches, postural work, or massage techniques. Sessions typically last 45 minutes to one hour and cost $100, with barn and multi-horse discounts available.
