Golden Spike Days

Golden Spike Days is an annual celebration held in Tustin, California, commemorating the historic completion of the Transcontinental Railroad on May 10, 1869. This family-friendly event brings together people of all ages to honor a significant milestone in American history. The festival is rooted in the story of David Hewes, who provided the golden spike used in the dedication ceremony of the railroad, and offers attendees a chance to engage with their community while reflecting on the past.

Participants can enjoy a variety of activities and events, including a video tour and opportunities for local businesses to get involved at no cost. The Tustin Area Historical Society also contributes by offering a unique commemorative item—a free laser-engraved replica of the golden spike with new memberships. Golden Spike Days is more than just a celebration; it is a tribute to innovation and unity in building a connected America and serves to educate and entertain visitors about this pivotal moment in history.
