Golf al Dato

Golf al Dato is an iPhone golf app designed to turn a phone camera into a launch monitor and help golfers understand how their shots perform. Made in Spain, it works without radar or external sensors: users position a compatible iPhone on a tripod facing the ball, and the camera records at 240 frames per second to capture impact data.

The app measures ball speed and launch angle, then uses a published flight model to estimate carry distance, total distance and, in some cases, club speed. It clearly labels each figure as measured, estimated or typical, and provides a stated uncertainty range for estimated carry. Spin may be measured when lighting and a ball marking allow it to be seen; otherwise, the app uses a typical value for the club. Golf al Dato also offers swing video analysis and shot tracing, with statistics in development. For home golf simulation, it can send shots to free OpenGolfSim or GSPro on a computer connected to the same network.
