Gondwana Choirs is an Australian youth choir organisation founded in 1989 by Artistic Director Lyn Williams AM as The Sydney Children’s Choir. Since then, it has grown into a family of ensembles that includes the Sydney Children’s Choir, Gondwana National Choirs, the Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir, and Marliya, associated with Spinifex Gum. The organisation develops young singers through world-class choral training led by experienced artists, while presenting performances and creating innovative new work that contributes to Australia’s distinctive choral sound.
Its activities include choir programs, concerts, tours, special projects, school-holiday workshops and opportunities to sing with its ensembles. Gondwana also offers professional development and, through the Sydney Children’s Choir, excellence scholarships for young singers of outstanding ability. Its programs create opportunities for talented young Australians from diverse backgrounds, including First Nations children, to grow as musicians and performers.
Based in Dawes Point, New South Wales, Gondwana Choirs is a registered charity supported by public funding, partners and donations. Supporters help provide young choristers with valuable artistic experiences and training
