Good For Kids

Good For Kids is a small, educator-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Westchester County, New York. Since 2003, it has worked to help local children by supporting the families who care for them. The organization focuses on two complementary forms of assistance.

Through Trusted Others, Good For Kids offers one-on-one support to parents as they navigate challenging aspects of the educational system and address their children’s educational needs. Its Opportunity Grants help highly motivated women pursue degrees and credentials by contributing toward tuition and other education-related costs. Applicants are recommended by trusted partners, connecting the grants with women identified as ready to pursue further study.

Good For Kids also shares information about its grantees and invites community members to support its work. The organization says every dollar donated goes directly toward Opportunity Grants, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Based in Somers, Good For Kids traces its roots to work with children in a refugee camp in Costa Rica, carrying forward a belief in helping people support one another
