Gourmet Camp Oven Experience

Gourmet Camp Oven Experience is a family-run outback dining and tour business based in Kununurra, in Western Australia’s East Kimberley. Created and hosted by chef Josh Melville, it offers guests a distinctive four-course culinary experience in a secluded outback setting. The menu celebrates locally sourced ingredients and bush tucker, with dishes prepared over coals and in camp ovens. The business also offers A Taste of the Ord Valley, another experience for visitors exploring the Kununurra region.

The experience was established at Lake Argyle in 2017 and relocated to the outback near Kununurra in 2023. Tours depart from and return to guests’ Kununurra hotels, motels or caravan parks. Sustainability is central to the operation: its secret dining location is solar powered, cooking fuel includes repurposed Indian sandalwood offcuts, and the seasonal format supports land regeneration. The business follows Leave No Trace principles and prioritises local sourcing.
