About GRAND BARI
Chateau GRAND BARI is a modern winery located in Veľká Bara, in the Tokaj wine region. Our vineyard covers approximately 60 hectares, where we cultivate our own grapes to ensure the continuity of terroir. We are dedicated to producing the highest quality Tokaj wines and cultivating the finest grapes that this unique treasure of Slovakia has to offer.
Our vineyards, including Čelejka, Ružičky, Katy, and Piliš, are situated on the hills of Piliš, one of the highest points in Tokaj in Slovakia, with the majority of the area classified as category 1A, the highest-quality terroir. To maintain the high quality of our grapes, we work with Rokosan, a producer of unique organic amino acid fertilizers. The history of wine cultivation in the Tokaj region dates back to ancient Roman times, with influences from the Tatars and Italian settlers.
The region's renaissance is credited to Bélla IV and the introduction of the Furmint grape variety. Tokaj wines gained fame throughout history, being enjoyed by royalty and influential figures like Voltaire, Napoleon, and King Louis XIV of France.
