About Grand Lodge of Texas
The Grand Lodge of Texas, also known as Freemasonry, is a fraternity dedicated to helping men become better versions of themselves. With a rich history dating back to the sixteenth century, Freemasonry is the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. Its three degrees of Symbolic, Craft, or Blue Lodge Masonry involve progressive dramas enacted only in the presence of Masons for moral instruction.
These degrees are based on biblical imagery, particularly the building of King Solomon's Temple as described in the Old Testament. Freemasonry requires a belief in God and life after death, but does not prescribe specific religious beliefs. The organization emphasizes charity and supports the less fortunate, including widows, orphans, and aged Masons through dedicated institutions.
Freemasonry maintains an element of secrecy, not to hide anything sinister, but to preserve the interest and context of its teachings. Throughout history, influential leaders such as George Washington and Theodore Roosevelt have been associated with Freemasonry, contributing positively to their communities. With its proud heritage and dedication to making a good man better, the Grand Lodge of Texas stands as a vital force for good alongside the church, home, schools, and civic organizations
