Grand Raid des Cathares is an ultra-trail event based in Carcassonne, in France’s Aude region, inviting runners to explore the landscapes of the historic Cathar countries. Created in 2015, the event welcomes both newcomers to trail running and experienced athletes, with seven race formats spanning different distances and levels of challenge. The 2026 edition is scheduled for 22–24 October and includes the 157 km Grand Raid des Cathares, the 103 km Raid des Bogomiles, the 88 km Raid des Troubadours, and shorter trails of 62 km, 44 km, 26 km, and 12 km.
Together, these routes offer options from a night-time trail around Carcassonne to demanding endurance races with substantial elevation gain. The event also provides practical services and information for participants, including registration, race regulations, required-equipment guidance, bib collection details, results, transport information, and live runner tracking through Livetrail. Interactive event mapping helps runners, supporters, volunteers, and spectators navigate the occasion.
