Granfondo Serra da Estrela is a Portuguese cycling event centered on an epic ride through the country’s highest mountain range. Organized by Arriaga, Pinto e Leite Lda., the event brings thousands of participants together to tackle scenic, demanding roads and climbs made famous by the Volta a Portugal. Its 12th edition is scheduled for 27 June 2027, with the start in Manteigas and a route passing through Seia and the Torre summit before returning to Manteigas.

Cyclists can choose between two challenges. The Granfondo covers 132 km, including a 22 km final section, with 4,200 metres of total ascent. The Mediofondo covers 102 km, also including that final section, and features 2,800 metres of ascent. The event’s website provides information about registration, regulations, race options, frequently asked questions, and results from the 2026 edition. Designed for cyclists seeking a major endurance challenge, Granfondo Serra da Estrela combines organised participation with a memorable test of climbing ability in Portugal’s mountain landscape.
