Granite Alpine Lab

Granite Alpine Lab is an independent, research-driven resource for backcountry skiing and mountain gear. It helps skiers make informed choices through in-depth reviews, buying guides, safety information, and practical planning tools. Its coverage spans climbing skins, touring boots, backcountry skis, crampons, poles, helmets, goggles, and socks, alongside avalanche equipment and training.

The site evaluates products by comparing specifications, expert consensus, field reports, and real-world performance data, aiming to offer candid recommendations rather than repeat marketing claims. Its seasonal buying guides highlight options across categories, while individual reviews assess gear from established outdoor brands such as Pomoca, Scarpa, Black Crows, and DPS.

Granite Alpine Lab also provides resources beyond equipment reviews, including app comparisons, repair guidance, destination ideas, and information about pets and other backcountry topics. Its live Presidential Range Conditions Monitor shares weather, avalanche forecasts, and trip assessments for Northeast ski zones. Visitors can also sign up for a newsletter and receive a printable backcountry gear checklist with selected product recommendations.
