Grant Witness

Grant Witness is an innovative project dedicated to tracking the termination of research grants issued by federal agencies since the administration's changes in 2025. Focused primarily on the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Grant Witness collects data on terminated grants, providing crucial insights for affected researchers through submissions from individuals and various government databases. The initiative encourages program officers and grant administrators to report their experiences to maintain an accurate and up-to-date resource.

The team, comprised of professionals including Noam Ross and Scott Delaney, aims to raise awareness about the impacts of grant terminations on research through visualizations and comprehensive reports. Additionally, they offer guidance for researchers considering appeals against terminations. By creating a collaborative platform, Grant Witness supports the scientific community in navigating the complexities of grant disruptions, ensuring that valuable research can continue despite funding challenges
