Grant Witness is a pioneering organization dedicated to maintaining an independent and up-to-date record of federal science funding disruptions in the United States. Recognizing the lack of a comprehensive source to track how federal funding has evolved, particularly under the Trump administration, Grant Witness provides detailed, grant-level insights into federal science funding activities. The organization is comprised of a diverse team of researchers, data scientists, and legal professionals who are committed to transparency and accountability in the realm of scientific funding.

Grant Witness meticulously monitors a variety of science-related grantmaking activities by federal agencies, which includes tracking grant terminations, freezes, and new awards. Their approach emphasizes grant-level data, linking each award to relevant context about funding institutions and beneficiaries. They provide weekly updates, ensuring that stakeholders, including journalists and researchers, receive timely information to make informed decisions. With a focus on data transparency, Grant Witness encourages public engagement and offers a resource for understanding the current landscape of federal science funding.
