Bringing together 126 academic and industrial partners in 13 research and innovation projects and 1 coordination and support project, the Graphene Flagship initiative will continue to advance Europe’s strategic autonomy in technologies that rely on graphene and other 2D materials. The initiative, which builds on the previous 10-years of the Graphene Flagship, is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. The 2D-Pilot Line, strengthening the European ecosystem in the development of integration modules for photonics and electronics prototyping services, is another key component of the Graphene Flagship ecosystem.

About Graphene Flagship 🇪🇺
The Graphene Flagship is a European research and innovation initiative advancing technologies based on graphene and other two-dimensional materials. Building on its first ten years, it brings together 126 academic and industrial partners across 13 research and innovation projects and one coordination and support project. The initiative is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme and aims to strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy in these technology areas.
Its work spans materials research, applications, industrialisation, standardisation, sustainability, health and safety, and collaboration between researchers and industry. Focus areas include electronics and photonics, energy, biomedical technologies, composites, and emerging 2D materials. The Graphene Flagship also shares research through news, publications, events, workshops, and its magazine.
A key part of its ecosystem is the 2D-Pilot Line, which supports the development of integration modules and prototyping services for photonics and electronics. It offers Process Design Kits with building blocks, design rules, and device models to help users design and simulate integrated circuits based on 2D materials.
