Gravesend Regatta

Gravesend Regatta Society is a registered charity dedicated to preserving traditional fixed-seat skiff rowing and the long-standing regatta tradition in Gravesham. First registered in 1846, Gravesend Regatta is among the oldest regattas in the UK. The Society was re-formed as a registered charity in 2019 and is run by a volunteer committee, including elected public members and representatives appointed by Gravesham Borough Council.

From April to September, the Society holds rowing practice sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30pm near the Rowing Club. Sessions welcome people who want to learn and develop their rowing skills, get active and take part in summer races. The Society organises its own regattas and races for local teams, and encourages crews to enter events such as the Great River Race and Round Canvey Race. Competition categories include men’s, women’s, mixed and veteran crews, with entries welcomed from pubs, clubs, port workers and others. The Society also offers membership, event-stall applications and opportunities to support the regatta through sponsorship.
