Great Banyan Art is a renowned brand that was established in 2004 by Neeraj and Radhika Batra, a husband and wife duo with a deep appreciation for art. What started as a personal passion for art collecting in the 1990s has now transformed into a thriving business. The couple's collection primarily focuses on historically significant works by India's most prominent artists, including names like F.
N Souza, Tyeb Mehta, and Amrita Sher-Gil, among others. Great Banyan Art is well-known for its dedication to quality and meticulously researched provenance. They have collaborated with prestigious auction houses such as Christies, Sotheby's, and Saffron Art, achieving remarkable sales and setting record prices for Indian art.
They have left an indelible mark on the art world, with notable accomplishments like consigning Tapovan by S. H. Raza to Christies, which created a world record for the artist.
In addition to Indian art, the Batra family's travels across Southeast Asia inspired them to broaden their collection and include captivating artworks from the region. The Great Banyan Art Collection has now expanded beyond borders, encompassing artists from 30 countries and diverse genres such as African Art, Pop Art, Street Art, and European Masters. Contemporary artists such as Aboudia, Geraldine Javier, and Ahmad Zakii Anwar have also found a place in the gallery's prestigious collection.
Since 2021, Great Banyan Art has directed its focus towards African Art, acquiring over 100 contemporary African artworks from leading artists of the continent. This family's dedication and passion for art have garnered recognition, with Sotheby's featuring their collection in late 2021. Whether you're an art enthusiast or a collector looking for extraordinary pieces, Great Banyan Art is your ultimate destination.
