Great Expectations Midwives

Great Expectations Midwives is a Gauteng-based midwifery service led by Sarah Jones and Elrika Knoetze, supporting families who are considering natural birth. The practice offers care tailored to each parent’s preferences and pregnancy, with options for home birth or birth at Genesis Maternity Clinic. Its approach centres on creating a calm, emotionally supportive environment where mothers can take an active role in labour while staying informed and prioritising the wellbeing of mother and baby.

Services include regular antenatal checkups, with visits increasing as pregnancy progresses, as well as personalised health education and time to build a relationship with the midwives before birth. The team supports natural births, including home births and VBACs, where assessments indicate this is appropriate. After delivery, postnatal checkups are provided at home during the first week, with support and advice available up to six weeks and often beyond.
