GreatSeal.com is an educational website devoted to the Great Seal of the United States and the ideas it represents. It presents the Seal as a statement of the nation’s founding vision, exploring how its two sides express principles the Founders hoped would guide the country. The site explains that Congress adopted the Great Seal on June 20, 1782, and that the U.S. Department of State has used engraved dies based on its official design description to seal government documents.

Visitors can explore the Seal’s history, design process, and symbolism through material on its three preliminary committees, final design, official descriptions, and later artistic interpretations. The site examines features including the bald eagle, shield, olive branch, arrows, pyramid, eye, stars, and rays of light, as well as the Latin mottoes E Pluribus Unum, Annuit Coeptis, and Novus Ordo Seclorum. It also covers themes such as unity, peace, and liberty, and traces the Seal’s appearances on medals and the one-dollar bill.
