About Great Plains Zoo
The Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History, located in Sioux Falls, SD, is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) that strives to fulfill four major objectives: Education, Conservation, Recreation, and Discovery. The zoo, which opened in 1963, is home to over 1,000 animals from around the world, exhibited in natural habitats that emphasize conservation and education. In addition to the zoo, the Delbridge Museum of Natural History offers a break from the sun on hot summer days, with a great selection of animal exhibits from around the world.
The zoo has continued to grow and expand, renovating older exhibits and creating new, larger habitats for the animals. The Great Plains Zoo also offers a variety of educational programs and experiences for adults and children, including interactive ZooMobiles, hands-on programming, and STEM and nature-inspired classes.
