Green Marine - Retrofitting towards climate neutrality is an innovation project funded by the European Union under the #horizoneurope research and innovation program (HORIZON-CL5-2022-D5-01-01, grant agreement no. 101096522). Innovate UK funding scheme co-funds UK participation in the Green Marine project, receiving a total joint funding of 3,211,835 euros. š„ The Goal Accelerate climate neutrality of waterborne transport by retrofitting existing fleets. ā Timeline The project began on 1 February 2023 and will run over four years. š” How? The Green Marine team will develop #retrofitting protocols and integrate technology to capture carbon, maximise fuel efficiency and integrate closed air circulation systems to ensure a virus-free and safe environment for passengers. All knowledge and solutions will be integrated through a software catalogue. š Who? About Green Marine Project
Green Marine is a pioneering brand focused on accelerating climate neutrality in waterborne transport through innovative retrofitting solutions. The project aims to reduce emissions by retrofitting existing fleets with cutting-edge technologies such as carbon capture, energy-saving, and fuel consumption reduction solutions. Partnering with 10 organizations from 7 countries, including SMEs, research institutes, and a major ferry operator, Green Marine is at the forefront of developing and validating retrofitting protocols for engines, carbon capture technologies, and energy-saving solutions.
By developing a software tool catalogue and implementing carbon capture solutions based on seawater, Green Marine is firmly positioned as a sustainable solution for the Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) market. With a strong focus on environmental impact, Green Marine is leading the way in transforming the maritime industry towards a more sustainable future
