About The Green New Deal Group
The Green New Deal Group is a visionary coalition founded in 2008, inspired by the historical efforts of President Roosevelt to combat economic crises. This group seeks to address the challenges posed by climate change, financial instability, and social inequality through a modernized "Green New Deal." Their mission is to catalyze a renewable energy revolution, facilitate the creation of thousands of green-collar jobs, and reform the finance sector to prioritize environmental and social needs.
Comprising a diverse membership of experts from politics, economics, and environmental advocacy, the group emphasizes innovative solutions tailored to build a sustainable future. Prominent members include influential figures such as Larry Elliott, Economics Editor of the Guardian; Caroline Lucas, the UK's first Green Party MP; and Jeremy Leggett, founder of Solarcentury. Their collaborative efforts have led to the formulation of substantial policy recommendations aimed at establishing a resilient, equitable economy. The Green New Deal Group is committed to spearheading transformative initiatives that promote ecological sustainability while ensuring economic justice for all.
