About Green Sod Ireland
Green Sod Ireland is an Irish land trust dedicated to the long-term protection of land and biodiversity. Through its Wild Acres programme, the organisation protects land in its care, creates safe habitats and supports the movement of wildlife. Its work reflects the importance of healthy natural heritage to the food, air and water on which life depends.
The organisation works with local communities and volunteers to restore habitats and improve biodiversity. It also offers ecological education through creative initiatives for primary and secondary school students and adults, and brings people together through events such as its Biodiversity Summer School and community meetups. Green Sod Ireland shares news about restoration projects and welcomes people interested in volunteering.
Individuals can support its work through membership, donations and land donations. The organisation also lists Biodiversity Friendly Carbon Credits among its initiatives and works with EcoMerit on a biodiversity-friendly carbon offsetting programme. Green Sod Ireland is a member of the Irish Environmental Network and acknowledges support from partner organisations and funders.
