Greenwich Emergency Medical Service (GEMS) is a not-for-profit organization serving the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut, as its sole provider of emergency medical services. Founded in 1986, GEMS is dedicated to delivering high-quality pre-hospital care to Greenwich residents. The organization reports an average response time of less than five minutes and a cardiac-arrest save rate twice as high as the best in the nation. Its emergency services are supported by the local community.
Beyond emergency response, GEMS provides medical standbys and community programs, including GEMS in Schools, the File for Life initiative, and an outdoor public access program. Its training and education offerings include EMT courses, EMS refresher education, American Heart Association Heartsaver and professional provider courses, community programs, and pet CPR and first-aid classes. GEMS also offers AED purchasing partnership services and hosts community events. Through these services, educational opportunities, and outreach initiatives, the organization works to strengthen emergency preparedness and support public safety throughout Greenwich.
