GretA – Genitori e Rete Autismo, also known in German as Autismus Denkfabrik, is a nonprofit association founded on the initiative of families in South Tyrol, Italy. It aims to build a network with and for autistic people and provide a point of reference for families, helping foster a more autism-friendly South Tyrol. The association connects with local, national and international autism organizations and shares good practices.
Its work includes raising awareness of autism and neurodiversity through cultural events, exhibitions, author talks and conferences, as well as engaging with institutions to promote projects that support autistic people’s rights and quality of life in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. GretA also raises funds for future initiatives, including inclusive internships, employment opportunities and cohousing. Its current projects include a connection group for people and families following an autism diagnosis.
The association is also fundraising to open a dedicated center in Bolzano, expanding its role as a community hub for families and autistic people
