Gretna Fire and Rescue (GVFD) is a prominent brand providing fire protection and emergency medical services in Western Sarpy County. Spread across 71 square miles, their dedicated team operates from two well-equipped fire stations. With a fleet consisting of 6 engines, 4 ambulances, 3 weed trucks, and 1 tanker, they ensure swift and efficient emergency responses. GVFD is unique as it relies on the support of tax dollars for its fire services and operates its EMS side through various donations.

Comprising skilled and committed volunteers, Gretna Fire and Rescue is the primary response agency for the Gretna community. Their volunteer firefighters undergo comprehensive training in fire suppression and emergency medical techniques. The Volunteer Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (Volunteer FF/EMT) program empowers individuals to serve their community and respond to diverse situations. From fire suppression and rescue efforts to hazardous material responses and public education, Volunteer FF/EMTs demonstrate exceptional dedication.

GVFD invites those with a passion for community service to join their team. Whether you have previous experience or not, GVFD provides all the necessary training. The only requirements are being 19 years of age, having a valid driver's license, and residing within a 2-mile radius of either fire station.
