Grimm Chronik

GrimmChronik is a historical storytelling platform that presents the past through personal experience, bringing individual voices and perspectives into focus. Its material explores themes including identity and self-determination, war and resistance, dictatorship and freedom, ideals and disappointment, love and hope. Covering history from 1919 to the present, the site offers a broad panorama of lived experience through eyewitness accounts and historical media.

Visitors can explore interviews, films, discussions connected to educational lessons, DVD editions, books, and Grimms Blog. The extensive interview and film collections address subjects ranging from life in the German Democratic Republic and political resistance to migration, culture, and contemporary historical research. A dedicated collection on post-Soviet identities shares people’s backgrounds, life journeys, and experiences of migration to Germany. These interviews are freely accessible and can be used in educational and migration-related work. The blog provides updates on new interviews, film projects, historical research, and events. Together, GrimmChronik’s resources invite audiences to engage with history through testimony, documentary storytelling, and reflection.
