Grit Valley Climbing is an upcoming bouldering gym planned for 1221 19th Street in downtown Bakersfield, California. Described as Bakersfield’s first bouldering-only gym, it aims to make climbing accessible, social, and inspiring while helping grow the local climbing community and bring new energy to downtown. The planned 8,000-square-foot facility will include 3,000 square feet of climbing surface, with slab, vertical, overhang, and roof walls designed for a range of abilities and styles.
Climbers can expect weekly route resets and circuits ranging from beginner grades to V10 and above. Beyond climbing, Grit Valley plans to offer a dedicated strength-training area, a private yoga studio, and programs for children ages 4–15, including youth clubs, birthday parties, and a competition team track. Regular competitions, leagues, film nights, and member events are also planned.
