El Griu d’Artesa de Lleida is a Catalan cultural group formed by people with a passion for fire and festivities. Like other groups devoted to traditional beasts and devils, it works to keep local culture and popular traditions alive through performances, community events and the celebration of fire. Its featured mythical figures are El Griu and L’Hydra, alongside Els Diablons, the group’s young devils.
The group offers several ways to enjoy its performances. For audiences who prefer to watch from a safer distance, El Griu can animate festivities with its guardians and theatrical fire displays. Those seeking a more immersive experience can take part in correfocs, where participants move beneath the fire. The group also presents Els Diablons for younger participants and performs daytime parades showcasing El Griu.
In Artesa de Lleida, it organizes the Festival d’Enceses del Bestiari de Catalunya, a gathering that highlights imaginative, spectacular fire displays and celebrates fire beasts as symbols of community identity.
