About GROOTS Kenya
GROOTS Kenya is a national movement dedicated to building a grassroots women movement in Kenya. They work towards facilitating effective engagement of grassroots women in development through movement building, leadership, and advocacy. With a presence in 17 out of the 47 counties in Kenya, GROOTS Kenya has invested in nearly 3,500 women-led groups, empowering them to become influential agents of change in their communities.
Founded in 1995 after the fourth UN Conference on Women in Beijing, China, GROOTS Kenya was established to address the lack of visibility of grassroots women in the development processes and decision-making forums that impact them. They are committed to ensuring that the voices and needs of grassroots women are heard and recognized. GROOTS Kenya collaborates with various development partners to achieve their mission.
