The Greenroof Center is the research and professional platform of Prof. Dr. Manfred Koehler, a landscape architect and specialist in green infrastructure. Its work focuses on green roofs, living walls and other vertical greening systems, indoor greening, biodiversity, urban heat island effects, photovoltaic technologies, and rainwater management. The center shares research, publications, presentations, and information on the benefits and technologies of green building, helping visitors explore how greening can contribute to urban adaptation and sustainable development.
Current projects include Green4BIM, developed with Laubwerk in Berlin, and research on sponge cities and green roofs with IÖW-Berlin, supported by Germany’s Federal Environment Agency. The site also offers opportunities for individual presentations, consultation, and international cooperation. Koehler’s work is connected to professional and research networks including BDLA, BUGG, FLL, the European Federation of Green Roof Associations, and the World Green Infrastructure Network, where he served as president until 2025. The center highlights conferences, publications, student initiatives, and developments in green building, making it a resource for researchers, practitioners, and organizations interested in green infrastructure.
