The Gruppo Storico Archeologico della Val d’Enza is a volunteer association dedicated to archaeology and local history in the Val d’Enza area of northern Italy. Its roots date to December 1970, when residents of Sant’Ilario d’Enza and Calerno established the Gruppo Archeologico Santilariese. In 2006 and 2007, archaeological groups from Sant’Ilario d’Enza, Montecchio Emilia and Sorbolo Mezzani joined together to form the present organization.
The group promotes interest in the region’s archaeological and historical heritage through public activities, events and excavation projects. Its website features information about archaeological investigations conducted in multiple years, including projects at Tannetum, as well as news and an event calendar. The association operates across three communities, with locations at the Mavarta Cultural Centre in Sant’Ilario d’Enza, the castle in Montecchio Emilia and Piazza Libertà in Sorbolo. It also shares updates through its website and Facebook page and offers an email newsletter for people wishing to follow its initiatives. Through these activities, the group connects local communities with the history and archaeology of the area.
