Horse rescue with final goal being to find loving homes for the rehabilitated horses as well a program for children & veterans. Our mission is to save abused, abandoned, and neglected horses from the slaughter pipeline. Most have experienced extreme neglect and suffer from malnutrition and other medical issues. We care for, and rehabilitate these horses until they are ready for adoption. We are a volunteer based organization. Our volunteers are diverse, reflecting our community. They include veterans as well as children (with adult permission). Our work is done and our hearts full when a rehabilitated horse is placed in a loving and caring home.

Quinlan Equine Academy and Rescue, formerly Good Shepherd Healing Ministries, is a dedicated horse rescue organization founded in 2011. Its mission focuses on rescuing abused, neglected, and abandoned horses, aiming to rehabilitate them and find loving forever homes. The organization also offers transformative equine-assisted programs tailored for children, teens, adults, and veterans, fostering personal growth and emotional healing through the unique bond formed with horses.
In the wake of significant challenges, including the passing of founder Maria Jones, the organization underwent a remarkable transformation in 2023, honoring her legacy with its new name and renewed purpose. The Quinlan facility is designed to cater specifically to the needs of rescue horses, providing an optimal environment for their rehabilitation. The organization is heavily supported by a diverse group of volunteers who play a vital role in its success. Through continuous community support and commitment to quality care, Quinlan Equine Academy and Rescue strives to create brighter futures for both horses and the individuals they help.
