About GSP
The Georgetown Scholars Program (GSP) is a Georgetown University initiative founded in 2004 to support first-generation and low-income students and promote a more equitable college experience. Since its launch, GSP has served more than 2,600 students and graduates; it currently provides programmatic support to over 650 undergraduates. Students are selected during Georgetown’s admissions process rather than applying directly to the program, with preference for high-achieving students from first-generation and low-income backgrounds.
GSP supports students through mentorship, community-building, financial assistance, and advocacy. Its resources are designed for both prospective and current students and include guidance on navigating Georgetown, exploring the hidden curriculum of college and post-college life, and accessing microgrants for essential needs. The program also offers spaces for students to discuss their experiences and find practical tools for their academic and personal journeys. GSP reports a 94% graduation rate among its students and highlights the value of peer connection, encouragement, and support.
