GSS ŻAR

Górska Szkoła Szybowcowa AP „ŻAR” is a mountain flying school and aviation centre based in Międzybrodzie Żywieckie, Poland. With a tradition spanning nearly 90 years at Mount Żar, the school introduces new students to aviation and helps experienced pilots advance their skills in the distinctive conditions of the Beskids. Its training combines experienced instructors, modern equipment and technical support, with a strong focus on safety and practical learning.

The school offers introductory flights for people who want to experience flying, as well as professional courses leading to glider (SPL), aeroplane (PPL(A)) and touring motor glider (TMG) licences. UPRT training is also available to develop pilot skills and prepare for unusual flight situations. Further opportunities include mountain, ridge-soaring and wave flights, cross-country flying and aerobatics. Visitors can explore the school’s fleet, use its glider simulator and find pilot resources, flight routes and information about airport fees and training costs. The Żar airfield also provides a welcoming setting for aviation enthusiasts to relax and enjoy the surrounding natural environment.
