Guarapiranga

Associação Nossa Guarapiranga (ANGua) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the Guarapiranga Reservoir and improving water quality in its watershed in São Paulo. The reservoir is an important water source for the metropolitan region, serving more than five million people, while also supporting native biodiversity and recreational activities. ANGua works to preserve and recover the watershed through environmental, educational, cultural, and community initiatives that connect residents with local waterways.

Its activities include environmental education campaigns, community meetings, collective action, and the publication of information, technical opinions, news, and updates on water conditions and public policies. The association also promotes citizen monitoring and oversight, supports efforts to improve sewage treatment in streams and tributaries, and raises awareness of challenges such as pollution, improperly discarded waste, eutrophication, and unplanned urban growth. ANGua shares reports and news about the reservoir and invites people to become members, donate, send messages, or report environmental concerns. Through these efforts, it aims to encourage broader participation in safeguarding Guarapiranga for the future.
