Gamla Uppsala Buss AB (GUB) is a publicly owned bus operator serving Uppsala and the surrounding region. Owned by Region Uppsala through Region Uppsala Holding AB, GUB operates local services on behalf of the regional public transport authority, UL. Its green city buses carry more than 80,000 passengers on an average weekday, and the company also runs selected yellow regional buses on UL’s network.
GUB’s services extend beyond scheduled bus routes. It provides special transport journeys, supplies drivers for Uppsala Municipality’s library buses, and owns and maintains preschool buses rented by the municipality for mobile preschool activities. The company also operates a full-service vehicle workshop, maintains regional bus stops in cooperation with UL, and runs its own bus-driver training programme. With more than 600 employees, GUB focuses on service quality, staff training and safe operations. Since 2019, all its bus traffic has used fossil-free fuels, and it continues to increase the share of electric and biogas vehicles.
