Guess the Correlation is a browser-based game that helps players practise estimating the strength of relationships shown in scatter plots. Created by Omar Wagih as a side project while he was a PhD student studying bioinformatics at the University of Cambridge and the European Bioinformatics Institute, the game combines a quick challenge with an introduction to a useful data-analysis concept. Each round generates a fresh scatter plot of 100 points with a positive Pearson correlation between zero and one.
Players enter a guess, earn coins for accuracy, regain lives for especially close answers, and build streaks toward a high score. The game also offers instructions, practical tips for reading scatter plots, and explanations of correlation and common estimation pitfalls. It is designed to sharpen visual judgement that can be useful when interpreting charts in research, news, or workplace data.
Play is available without an account or sign-in; usernames, scores, and progress are stored in the player’s browser
