The Yinka Shonibare Foundation is a UK-registered charity supporting artists and creative practitioners through residencies, research, education programmes and public events. Inspired by the work and commitment of internationally acclaimed British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare CBE RA, the Foundation develops opportunities for early-career and African diaspora artists to experiment, collaborate and share new work.
Its programmes include Guest Projects Digital, which supports multidisciplinary artists with digital resources, online creative programming and opportunities for community engagement. This initiative builds on Guest Projects, a residency programme founded by Shonibare Studio in 2006. Formerly based in a project space in east London, Guest Projects offered artists, performers and curators a place to collaborate and develop experimental work; it shifted to a digital focus in response to the Covid crisis.
The Foundation also works through Guest Artists Space (G.A.S.), partnering with organisations to offer fellowships, residencies and other opportunities. Its activities include open calls, artist talks, exhibitions and digital projects, helping artists develop ideas, connect with audiences and advance their creative practices.
