Gulf Coast Watermen

Gulf Coast Watermen is a community of anglers, hunters, guides, biologists, boaters, and other outdoor enthusiasts united by a commitment to Louisiana’s Gulf Coast marshes and wetlands. The organization works to educate sportsmen about wildlife and wetland conservation while supporting responsible public access to navigable waterways. Its conservation efforts focus on protecting fragile shallow pond habitats by reducing motor traffic, submerged vegetation damage, bank erosion, and pressure on wildlife, and encouraging paddle, pole, and trolling methods.

Gulf Coast Watermen offers memberships that include access to a live-streaming marsh camera, fishing reports, local weather and tide forecasts, wind and water-level information, and a spreadsheet tracking pond entries. Members also receive early notice of tournament registration. The organization hosts fishing events, including The Sheepy, a fly-fishing tournament targeting sheepshead in the Louisiana marshes, and The Southern Cup, which combines golf and fishing. Through its community, educational work, membership resources, and tournaments, Gulf Coast Watermen encourages people to help sustain the marsh’s beauty, habitat, and outdoor traditions for future generations.
