Gumnut Valley Alpacas

Gumnut Valley Alpacas is a boutique animal farm in Butterwick, established in 2019 with four alpacas. Today, the farm is home to around 60 alpacas, Mediterranean miniature donkeys, Nigerian dwarf goats, Sebastopol geese and Silkie chickens. Owners Steve and Marian welcome visitors and offer experiences and services for individuals, families and groups.

Visitors can book animal-feeding activities, picnics with alpacas, open days, group visits and farm animal encounters for NDIS participants. The farm also offers workshops on alpaca care and fleece, yoga with alpacas, paint-and-sip events, volunteering opportunities and incursions for settings such as retirement villages and wedding venues. For animal owners and prospective breeders, services include alpacas for sale, stud services, husbandry advice, rescue and surrender support, and guidance on reporting neglected alpacas. Nigerian dwarf goats and Silkie chickens are also available for purchase. Gumnut Valley sells alpaca fleece and related products, including fleece and yarn, and provides opportunities to learn about animal care through hands-on activities.
