GWE Huizen

Gracie Women Empowered Huizen is a women’s self-defense program in Huizen, the Netherlands, based on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques and developed by Gracie University. Its curriculum comprises 15 lessons of approximately 60 minutes, covering responses to 20 common threats and attacks against women, including hair grabs, being pinned to the ground, and choking. Training combines adaptable techniques with strategies for dealing with familiar or unknown attackers, and gives particular attention to the psychology of an assault.

The classes are designed for participants aged 13 and older, with no previous experience or particular fitness level required. Lessons progress in a positive, supportive way, allowing each person to learn at her own pace and join at any time. Instructors Koen and Ryanne completed their training and official certification through Gracie University in 2024 and renew their instructor certification every two years.

Classes take place weekly on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings. The school offers two free trial lessons and can arrange tailored seminars, shorter courses, or private training for schools, businesses, and care institutions. Participants can borrow a belt; enrolled students may order a Gracie WE shirt and Gi trousers.
