About Gyalyum
The Gyalyum Charitable Trust is a Bhutanese charitable organization established under the patronage of Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck, Queen Mother of Bhutan. Guided by her commitment to the welfare of women, young people and children, the Trust supports social causes in health, education and culture, with particular concern for disadvantaged and marginalized communities.
Its initiatives include RENEW, a civil society organization focused on empowering vulnerable women; the Royal Textile Academy, which works to preserve and promote Bhutanese weaving; and the Gyalyum Scholarship Programme, which supports students pursuing higher education. The Gyalyum Dharma Initiative reflects the country’s Buddhist heritage, while the Craft Gallery provides a showroom and sales outlet for Bhutanese artisans, promoting the marketing and development of local handicrafts.
The Trust also collaborates on cultural conservation projects and shares scholarship announcements and beneficiary stories. Donations help fund its work, and supporters can contribute through the Trust or purchase Bhutan Travelog, with proceeds from each sale supporting its initiatives.
