Gyaw Gyaw is a small non-profit organization located on the border between Thailand and Burma that is predominantly populated by ethnic Karen. Since 2009 we have utilized sustainable architecture as a tool to strengthen the communities in our own neighborhood. In the Karen language, Gyaw Gyaw translates to slowly, step by step. This is the foundation of our values and how we approach our work. Through our 5-step process we work in close cooperation with the local communities and its residents, to create projects that are culturally adjusted. Our project development process is long-lasting and our aim is to increase the access to primary education by creating learning environments that help strengthen the reputation and position of the current schooling system.

About Gyaw Gyaw
Gyaw Gyaw is a socially-conscious organization founded in 2009 by Line Ramstad and her local colleagues in the remote Karen village of Noh Bo. Initially part of a Norwegian architectural project, Gyaw Gyaw has since evolved into a democratically run entity, spearheading over 80 local projects. The Karen people, known as the easy people, inhabit the area along the Thai-Burmese border, referred to as the land without evil.
Gyaw Gyaw's work is rooted in the belief that architecture plays a vital role in the developing world. Despite the challenges faced by the Karen people, Gyaw Gyaw remains committed to making a positive impact in the community.
