GZV Ockstadt

Geflügelzuchtverein Ockstadt 1932 e.V. is a community dedicated to the care, breeding, and preservation of pedigree and ornamental poultry in Ockstadt, in Germany’s Wetterau region. Founded in 1932, the club brings together hobby keepers and experienced breeders to protect rare and historic breeds, promote responsible animal care, and share practical knowledge across generations. Its members work with chickens, bantams, pigeons, ducks, and geese, including breeds such as Welsumer, Bantam, Voorburger Schildkröpfer, and Fränkische Landgans.

The association supports its members through regular meetings, expert talks, vaccination activities, exhibition visits, and its annual local poultry show. It also encourages young people’s interest in nature and animal husbandry, including hands-on projects with regional kindergartens. For these projects, the club lends a viewing incubator and helps children observe hatching and the chicks’ first days. With around 160 members, GZV Ockstadt combines breed conservation and education with a welcoming social life, offering opportunities to learn, participate, and support local poultry keeping.
