Heimatverein Haaren / Verlautenheide 1984 e.V. is a local heritage association dedicated to documenting and sharing the history of Haaren and Verlautenheide. Its work brings together historical research, community activities and the preservation of local records and memories. The association maintains a collection of archival materials and welcomes donations or loans of photographs, postcards, letters, books, drawings, maps, certificates, family records and other items connected with the area.
Visitors can explore the Heimatforum in the courtyard of the Welsche Mühle in Aachen-Haaren, where archival materials may be consulted and a guest computer is available for digital records. The forum is generally open to the public on Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon, with additional visits available by arrangement. The association also sells its publications and duplicates of archival materials.
Its programme includes talks, walks, guided visits, trips, celebrations and regular social gatherings. Members and visitors can also attend local history and dialect events.
