Habitat for Humanity Japan is an international non-profit organization that is dedicated to addressing housing issues in over 70 countries worldwide. Founded in the state of Georgia, USA in 1976, Habitat for Humanity began by providing non-profit, interest-free housing support to families living in poor and unhealthy conditions due to poverty. Recognizing that a secure home is a foundation for a healthy and prosperous life, Habitat for Humanity expanded its efforts beyond housing construction.

They also provide support in installing sanitation facilities, promoting construction technology, and creating disaster-resilient communities, with the goal of improving and securing housing and promoting overall community development. In 2001, the Japan office of Habitat for Humanity was established to tackle the housing issues faced in the Asia-Pacific region. With the increasing population, rapid urbanization, and frequent natural disasters in the region, housing problems have become increasingly severe.

Habitat for Humanity Japan supports housing initiatives in the region both financially, by funding housing projects, and through the deployment of volunteers from Japan to assist with housing construction in different countries. In Japan, they also address the housing needs of vulnerable populations such as elderly households and single-parent households, in addition to providing emergency support during times of disaster.
