Quatermain's 1920's Safari Camp

Quatermain’s 1920s Safari Camp is an intimate, rustic tented safari destination on the Amakhala Big 5 Game Reserve in South Africa’s malaria-free Eastern Cape, between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown. Inspired by the era of early exploration, the camp combines an expedition-style atmosphere with en-suite tented accommodation and private wood-fired hot tubs. Its aim is to evoke the romance of historic safaris while offering excellent wildlife viewing in a natural setting.

Guests can join twice-daily game drives, each lasting three to four hours and departing directly from camp with experienced rangers. The reserve is home to elephants, giraffes, rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras and other wildlife. Guided safari walks offer another way to explore the landscape, following trails used by elephants and rhinos. The camp also features candlelit dinners and fireside gathering spaces, creating a relaxed, intimate experience. Reflecting two decades of passion and experience in the safari industry, Quatermain’s welcomes guests through Julie and Riaan Brand.
