Nysted Hajkutter Festival is a maritime event organized by Nysted Hajkutter Regatta, bringing historic Danish fishing vessels and visitors together in Nysted. The festival celebrates hajkutters, traditional boats built in Denmark between 1887 and 1975. Although an estimated 8,000–10,000 were once built, only around 140–150 are believed to remain worldwide.
The event combines a welcoming harbor atmosphere with sailing, entertainment, and activities for all ages. Highlights include a hajkutter race, a program for skippers and crew, live music, and maritime games and toys for children. Visitors can enjoy fish dishes and daily evening specials from Slagter Yvonne at Hyttefadet, alongside sandwiches and cakes, while the Skipperknejpen and Tuborg wagon offer refreshments.
The festival also provides practical information for visitors and crews, including sailing guidance, parking details, a photo gallery, and opportunities to sail. Volunteers are invited to help with event setup, sales, and children’s activities. The festival is planned as an annual gathering in Nysted harbor, celebrating traditional boats and seafaring culture
